Caring for your vinyl wrap

Modified on Mon, 22 Jul at 3:36 PM

Proper care and maintenance of your INTERSTATE motorhome's vinyl wrap is essential for keeping it looking its best. Below are detailed guidelines on how to care for your vinyl wrap to ensure longevity and maintain its aesthetic appeal.

Regular Washing

Frequency: Wash the vinyl wrap whenever it appears dirty. Allowing contaminants to remain can make them harder to remove later.

Initial Rinse: Use a spray of water to remove as much dirt and grit as possible before washing.

Washing: Use a wet, non-abrasive car or truck wash detergent. Apply the detergent with a soft, clean cloth or sponge.

Rinsing: Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Immediately after rinsing, use a silicone squeegee to remove water and prevent spotting, finishing off with a clean microfiber cloth.

Note: It is as equally important to wash the roof of your motorhome to avoid streaking on the side of the vehicle and wrap. Harsh Australian conditions can turn paint chalky over time, so maintaining the roof's cleanliness is imperative.

Pressure Washing

Guidelines:

Keep water pressure below 2000 psi.

Water temperature should be under 80°C.

Use a nozzle with a 40-degree wide-angle spray pattern.

Hold the nozzle at least 1 meter away and perpendicular to the vinyl surface.

Handling Difficult Contaminants

Procedure: Soak areas with tough contaminants like bug splatter or bird droppings in very hot, soapy water for several minutes. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

Spot Cleaning: If residues persist, try Meguiar’s Gold Class™ Bug and Tar Remover or 3M™ Citrus Base Cleaner. You can also use a solution of isopropyl alcohol (two parts) to one part water, or denatured alcohol. Always test these products in an inconspicuous area first to ensure they do not damage the graphics. Use gentle, non-abrasive tools for cleaning.

Care Tips:

Avoid abrasive polishes or cutting compounds.

Do not apply polishing or wax products on your INTERSTATE wrap as it is a matte finish.

If wax residue exists, remove it with an all-purpose cleaner.

By following these maintenance guidelines, you can ensure that your INTERSTATE motorhome's vinyl wrap remains in pristine condition, preserving both its functionality and aesthetic appeal.
