1. Turning On the Controller

To turn on the Webasto Smart Controller:

  1. Ensure the diesel heater circuit is turned 'on' at the REDARC display panel and is illuminated green.
  2. Press the centre button.
  3. The main menu will appear, with options for heating, ventilation, and settings.


2. Setting the Heating Mode

To set the heating mode:


  1. Navigate to the "Heating" menu by rotating the dial and pressing the centre button.
  2. Select your desired temperature (default is 21°C) by scrolling up or down. The range is from 21°C to 35°C.
  3. Press the centre button again to confirm your selection. The button will change from white to green, indicating that the heating mode is activated.
  4. Note: The heater will not produce heat or turn on the fan instantly, but the green light indicates it is activated.


3. Using the Timer Function

To use the timer function:


  1. Access the timing settings by pressing the centre button in the heating menu.
  2. Choose between "On permanently" or set a specific time by scrolling down.
  3. Confirm your selection by pressing the centre button.


4. Setting the Ventilation Mode

To set the ventilation mode:


  1. Navigate to the "Ventilation" menu by rotating the dial and pressing the centre button.
  2. Select your desired fan speed (1 to 4, with 4 being the highest) by scrolling and pressing the centre button.
  3. Set the duration to either "Max" or a specific time.
  4. Confirm your selection. The button will change from white to blue, indicating that the ventilation mode is activated.
  5. To adjust settings while in ventilation mode, re-enter the menu, change the settings, and press the centre button to confirm.


5. Adjusting the Settings

To access and adjust the settings:


  1. Navigate to the "Settings" menu by rotating the dial and pressing the centre button.
  2. Available settings include:
  • Altitude mode (activate when above 1500 meters)
  • Quick start mode
  • Weekday and time settings
  • Language and units
  • Screen brightness and timeout
  • Day and night settings for screen brightness
  • System information and error codes


6. Understanding Error Codes and System Information

To view error codes and system information:


  1. Navigate to the "System Information" menu by rotating the dial and pressing the centre button.
  2. Error codes will provide information on issues such as low battery voltage, low fuel, or other errors.
  3. Refer to the error codes section for troubleshooting steps.


7. Resetting the Heater

To reset the heater:


  1. Navigate to the "Reset" menu by rotating the dial and pressing the centre button.
  2. Use the reset function to clear any fault codes after rectifying the issue (e.g., refilling low fuel).
